July Programming Highlights

Dear KMFA Listener,

I hope you’ve been having a nice summer! The Central Texas heat has been relentless, hasn’t it? Keep the AC on, and keep KMFA on too, for the cooling sounds of Handel’s Water Music, Ravel’s Jeux d’Eau and Delius’ Summer Night on the River. Ah, I feel cooler already! KMFA is indeed an oasis on your radio dial.

Let KMFA help you celebrate the Fourth of July with lots of good old American music! It will be the perfect companion for all of your Independence Day activities. Keep your radio on 89.5 all day for favorite works by Gershwin, Bernstein, and Copland, patriotic hymns and anthems, rousing wind music and film scores, and a few surprises!

If you haven’t heard our weekly broadcast of the BP Chicago Symphony Orchestra, I hope you’ll try it out sometime this month. Programs will include Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante in E-flat major for winds and Bruckner’s Symphony No. 5 conducted by Daniel Barenboim, Ricardo Muti conducting works by Verdi, Hindemith, Tchaikovsky and Scriabin, and John Williams conducting a program of his own music, plus Ralph Vaughan Williams’ A London Symphony. The BP Chicago Symphony Orchestra can be heard Monday evenings at 8 on KMFA.

Happy Fourth of July and Happy Listening!
