Public Relations Coordinator
Classical 89.5 KMFA is seeking a Public Relations Coordinator to handle all station publicity, social media, marketing communications and community outreach initiatives. The position reports to the General Manager. The coordinator will develop and implement projects to increase KMFA’s audience size, bring new users to the KMFA web site and mobile platforms, deepen engagement among current listeners, and expand community awareness of KMFA.
Electronic communications: maintain and improve communications of the station via email and newsletter. Actively develop tactics to expand current email database.
Social media: maintain and expand the station social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter and Wordpress blog. Recommend future social media strategy.
Website: coordinate and write or edit all current website content, and be part of team working with digital consultant on new web site design.
Media Relations: maintain current media list, establish and maintain relationships with media, contact media for station promotion/outreach, including press releases, media advisories, etc.
Advertising and paid media recommendations: research, recommend coordinate placement of paid and/or trade advertising, working with freelance designer to generate ad materials.
Brand messaging: recommend brand strategy and ensure brand consistency. Work with Development and Program departments to generate copy and ensure consistency of brand and marketing messaging throughout all communications.
Community Relations: maintain relationship with community arts partners, providing support through KMFA social media and e-communications to enhance value of station relationships. Serve as staff support for KMFA Community Advisory Board.
Events: plan and coordinate station promotional events. Represent KMFA at strategically selected events with table displays and/or twitter and other online presence.
Marketing materials: work with freelance designer to develop ads and marketing collateral.
Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations or related field
Track record of success with social media
Track record of work experience in Public Relations, Marketing Communications, or related field
Knowledge of html, content management systems, and
Excellent verbal and written presentation skills
Knowledge of classical music helpful
Public radio experience helpful
Compensation and Benefits:
Starting salary low $30s, plus a comprehensive benefits plan including fully paid employee medical and dental insurance, 403(B) contribution plan, vacation, sick/personal leave and holidays.
