KMFA CELEBRATES 40TH BIRTHDAY WITH RECORD MEMBERSHIP DRIVE AND MAYORAL PROCLAMATION
Station thanks listeners for raising more than $41,565.00 in support of classical music radio- ending scheduled drive 8 hours earlier than scheduled!
Mayoral Proclamation: 2007 the Year of KMFA
Austin, Texas – In celebration of its 40th birthday, Classical 89.5, KMFA held a 3 day birthday membership drive to raise $40,000. The drive ended 8 hours early on Wednesday, January 31st, over its stated goal by close to $2,000!
Over 500 individuals, businesses and volunteers helped the station raise the money in just over 25 hours of on-air pitching.
Development Director, Joan Kobayashi noted that “…this was the most successful birthday fundraising event in the station’s history, and we have our listeners to thank. If this birthday drive is any indication, the phrase “Life Begins at 40” - may just be ringing true for KMFA!”
In conjunction with KMFA’s 40th Birthday Drive, Mayor Will Wynn will proclaim 2007 as a year dedicated to the celebration of KMFA’s 40th Birthday! General Manager, Jack Allen, and Board Chairman, Steve Moore will accept the Mayor’s proclamation on behalf of the station. Listeners and members are invited to attend this event and help celebrate this auspicious moment at the City Hall Council Chambers, at 301 W. 2nd St. Thursday, February 1st at 5:30 pm.
Remarking about the 40th birthday celebration, KMFA’s General Manager, Jack Allen, said, “Where many classical stations have fallen by the wayside, we are thrilled that KMFA has the committed support of such a wonderful community. We now have supporters in over 21 states as well as listeners from around the world. It is with great joy that we celebrate our 40th and invite everyone to help us ring in the Year of KMFA in the Council Chambers tomorrow afternoon!”
