CLASSICAL 89.5 KMFA CELEBRATES SUCCESSFUL SPRING MEMBERSHIP DRIVE
Station thanks listeners for raising more than $250,000 in support of classical music public radio - ending scheduled drive on time and on goal!
Austin, Texas –Classical 89.5, KMFA just concluded its spring membership drive raising its stated goal of $250,000 and increasing its membership base with the addition of over 525 new members!
Over 2000 individuals and businesses contributed in support of the Spring Drive - the station’s highest volume of gifts in one drive.
Development Director, Joan Kobayashi noted that “Not only did we meet a 10% increase in our dollar goal; we met that with a 20% increase in call volume. Those numbers are extremely encouraging. The more people supporting the station, the better the future looks for classical music radio in Central Texas.”
KMFA’s General Manager, Jack Allen, said, “The support for KMFA during this record breaking membership drive was evidence of folks’ realization that all-classical, non-commercial stations like this are indeed rare. Not only is this support, from Central Texas, 25 U.S. States and multiple countries abroad, heartening, but it assures enhanced flexibility when planning for the future and greater public service to a diverse regional community. In a word, KMFA feels loved!”

Classical 89.5 KMFA is a listener supported, community radio station – incorporated in 1967 - relying on 90% of its funding from direct listener and business contributions. A noncommercial, classical format station – KMFA features both local programming and nationally distributed programming from Public Radio International, American Public Media and Minnesota Public Radio.
