KMFA Announcer wins Telly

News Release:

David Crews, Austin television director, composer, and recording artist, has won a prestigious 2008 Silver Telly Award for his film presentation, Ancient Songs and Green Magic - A Photo Gallery from Peru.  It won the award in the category "Travel and Tourism."

This is the third consecutive year that Crews has won a Silver Telly, the top Telly Award.  He won last year for his original music score and performance for a version of the same program, and for his music in 2006 for his film Big Bend - A Landscape Romance

Crews has also won three Bronze Telly Awards for commercial television production, along with numerous other media awards and commendations, including a Moondance International Film Festival Calypso Award in 2006.  He is a Semi-finalist in the current 2008 Moondance festival.

Ancient Songs and Green Magic documents Crews' travels and amazing spiritual adventure to Peru and the Amazon to work with traditional shamans and the powerful plant medicine called Ayahuasca.  The full symphonic score includes Crews' original field recordings of native groups and of the magical songs of the shamans as well as the spectacular natural audio environments of the Amazon and Andes.

Crews also recently released his second CD, Songs of Day - Songs of Night, incorporating some of the Amazon's natural sounds. It is available worldwide through iTunes and CDBaby.com.

Crews' production studio, CrewsCreative is in Austin, Texas, where he creates broadcast commercial television and film products and original music.
