If you've been listening to KMFA this past week, you are aware that our spring fund drive is underway. You've heard us remind you that KMFA exists solely because of generous listeners like you. You may even be able to recite our donation phone number by heart! We are touched by your generous and enthusiastic donations, and we love the comments you send along with your gifts, telling us how much this locally owned, locally programmed all-classical station means to you.

Last month, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting approved KMFA's annual Community Service Report, thereby affirming that our record of community service qualifies us to continue receiving CPB funding of just over $130,000 each year. Through this vital community service grant -- matched many times over by individual contributions -- KMFA is able to bring the joy of classical music into every corner of the community in a variety of ways. Our annual instrument drive, organized in partnership with the Hispanic Alliance for the Performing Arts, places musical instruments in the hands of Austin students who want to learn. Our summer radio camp for kids turns KMFA for a week every year into a learning ground for future generations of communicators. Monthly "Listen Local" broadcasts showcase the rich and varied musical offerings produced throughout the year by Austin's own outstanding classical music organizations. Stories on our website shine a spotlight on the creative work underway in Austin's music community. Distinguished national programs like "Performance Today" and "Concierto" bring the larger world of music to our radios, while themed programming for Black History Month, Women's History Month, and other special commemorations increase our appreciation of cultural history through the prism of classical music.
