On Saturday, April 30 at the 4th Tap Brewing Cooperative, Fast Forward Austin
presents Amid the Noise, an evening of music for percussion, strings and saxophones
featuring performances by Jason Treuting (So Percussion), Battle Trance (New Amsterdam Records), The Kraken Quartet, Cordova Quartet, the UT Austin Percussion Group, and Baylor Percussion. This ambitious program spans from serene soundscapes to ecstatic torrents of sound, all against the backdrop of 4th Tap’s distinctive brewery space. At the heart of the show is Jason Treuting’s Amid the Noise. Pulsating drones, ambient noise textures, and subtly shifting rhythms bind this collection of twelve short pieces for mixed percussion. Described as “a remarkably beautiful and atmospheric work (All About Jazz),” our performance brings together the combined forces of The Kraken Quartet, UT Percussion Group, Baylor Percussion Group, and Jason Treuting to perform the piece in its entirety.
