T​he Sickle Cell Association of Texas​ is hosting our ​​​​​​5th ​​Annual 3K Walk for Sickle Cell, which will serve up to 150 individuals affected by sickle cell disease. This walk will feature food, speakers, and activities for families affected by sickle cell disease. There will also be free sickle-cell disease and trait testing for those who register for the event online.

All funds raised from this event will help send around 60 children to Camp Cell-A-Bration, a camp sponsored by our agency for children with sickle cell disease. During this week, we provide food, activities such as canoeing and fishing, and a safe environment at Camp

Individual Walker $30 (On-site $35)

Children ages 6-15 $20 (will receive a shirt)

Children under 5 FREE (will not receive a shirt)

Children with sickle cell disease FREE (will receive a shirt based upon availability)

Team of 10 adults: $290

Team of 20 adults: $570

  • Name: Sickle Cell Association of Texas
  • Pastor Marc Thomas, a true champion for families suffering from sickle cell disease also suffered from this debilitating and chronic blood disease. Though he was on oxygen, had a heart condition, pulmonary hypertension, wore oxygen 24 hours a day, and other complications, he refused to give up his fight for families living with sickle cell disease. Marc embodied all that was good. He passed away at the age of 46 in 2005.

    ​The Sickle Cell Association of Texas Marc Thomas Foundation that began with Marc and his wife has now outreached to over 150,000. Their efforts has greatly impacted families and individuals challenged with sickle cell disease. His legacy of championing for families suffering from the debilitating disease continues.
