The combined choirs of Covenant Presbyterian and First Baptist Churches of Austin will perform “Masterworks” with full orchestra Sunday, June 5, at 3 p.m. in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church, at 9th and Trinity, in downtown Austin.

Tom Brown and Louise Avant will conduct the 100-voice choir and orchestra in Dan Forrest’s “Requiem for the Living” plus masterworks by Haydn, Beethoven, Brahms, Handel, Vaughn Williams and Fauré. Admission is free, but donations will be graciously accepted.

Tom Brown, director of music ministry at Covenant Presbyterian Church, has more than 40 years of experience in church music and has been with Covenant since 1995.

Louise Kemp Avant, minister of music at First Baptist Church of Austin, has been an organist and choir director in Baptist, Methodist and Presbyterian churches. She joined the full-time ministerial staff in May 1995.
