KMFA 89.5 is a proud media sponsor of the Mozart Requiem Undead performance on Friday, September 16 at 8pm, which the station will feature as a "Listen Local" broadcast on Friday, October 21 at 7pm.

This vocal-infused double bill features Grammy Award®-winning ensemble Roomful of Teeth and an encore performance of Mozart Requiem Undead performed by Panoramic Voices (formerly Texas Choral Consort) along with Austin-based vocal ensemble Convergence. The performance will also include the world premiere of Tired Tropes for Battered Souls by Caleb Burhans, which was commissioned by Texas Performing Arts and KMFA 89.5.

Formed in 2009, Roomful of Teeth is dedicated to mining the expressive potential of the human voice. The New York Times calls the eight-voice ensemble “sensually stunning.”

In 2014, TPA and partners Golden Hornet Project and Fusebox Festival presented Mozart Requiem Undead to open the Fusebox Festival at the French Legation Museum. Ten composers were commissioned to rework various movements of Mozart’s Requiem Mass. The only stipulation was that the composers had to keep the vocal parts as originally written by Mozart.

You can still buy tickets to the upcoming performance at Texas Performing Arts
