Prolific as both a performing and recording artist, pianist Jeffrey Biegel currently serves on the faculties of the Conservatory of Music at Brooklyn College and the City University of New York. Biegel is in Austin this week for a pair of performances with the Austin Symphony. The program, called “Symphonic Follies,” features orchestral favorites by Darius Milhaud, Richard Strauss, and Camille Saint-Saëns. The centerpiece of the concerts is a brand new piano concerto by none other than P.D.Q. Bach, the fictitious alter-ego of professor, composer, and satirist Peter Schickele. Schickele has made a career for over five decades performing the “newly discovered” or “forgotten” works of the “only forgotten son” of the Bach family. P.D.Q. Bach calls his newest work a “Concerto for Simply Grand Piano and Orchestra.”

Jeffrey Biegel sat down with KMFA’s Chris Johnson to discuss his upcoming performance.
