Chaski presents "Concert for the Earth" Thursday January 26, 2017 at 7 o’clock in the evening Flute/harp duo Chaski presents Concert for the Earth, a program of music celebrating the natural world.

Flutist Adrienne Inglis and harpist Shana Norton are joined by special guests mezzo-soprano Shaunna Shandro, flutist Amara Yachimski, and harpist Mallory McHenry. The performance includes classical, Celtic, and Latin American folk music for flute, bass flute, clàrsach, harp, flauto traverse, sikus, quena, ayarachis, D whistle, low whistle, and cuatro.

Admission is free and all donations go to Sierra Club conservation efforts. A limited number of Chaski CDs will be given away to audience members.

  • Name: Chaski
  • Chaski means “messenger” in the Incan language of Quechua. In the spirit of this Andean traveler, Chaski bring to its audiences classical, Celtic, and Latin American folk music featuring all kinds of flutes and harps. Based in Austin, Texas, Chaski has performed together since 1985 and has toured the United States, Costa Rica, Venezuela, England, and Scotland. Five independently produced recordings, Chaski (1989), Pacha Mama (1991), El sariri (1995), Unay (2000), and Viracocha (2005) feature selections from Chaski’s repertoire on flute, sikus (panpipes), quena, flauto traverso, harp, cuatro, guitar, charango, bombo, maracas and other instruments.
