The Contemporary Austin and Waller Creek Conservancy present a free public opening and family day to celebrate the unveiling of two monumental sculptures by Chinese artist and activist Ai Weiwei.

Enjoy free refreshments and art activities for all ages, and check out the mesmerizing installation Forever Bicycles, on view at the Waller Delta, 74 Trinity Street near the Boathouse. This work is presented as part of The Contemporary Austin's ongoing collaboration with Waller Creek Conservancy and its Museum Without Walls program.

A second work by Ai Weiwei, Iron Tree Trunk, is also on view at The Contemporary's Betty and Edward Marcus Sculpture Park at Laguna Gloria, with free admission all day on June 3

  • The Contemporary Austin reflects the spectrum of contemporary art through exhibitions, commissions, education, and the collection. The museum has two distinct yet complementary locations, the Jones Center in downtown Austin at 700 Congress Avenue, and Laguna Gloria, a 14-acre site on Lake Austin at 3809 W. 35th Street, which is home to the Driscoll Villa, the Art School, the Gatehouse Gallery, and the Betty and Edward Marcus Sculpture Park at Laguna Gloria.
