When Annie Burridge first assumed the positon of General Director and CEO of Austin Opera a little over a year ago, she says she made a lot of speeches about her views on the power of opera to play an integral role in a community and inspire an entire city.
Today, with the announcement of the upcoming 2018-19 season, she is laying out a vision for what a 21st-century opera company can look like in Austin, TX. In addition to three main-stage performances at the Long Center, the company launches a new programming initiative designed to present adventurous new works in unusual spaces called OperaATX. Annie Burridge joined Chris Johnson on Rideshare to give KMFA an exclusive peek at the new season and new initiative.
