Acclaimed violist Roger Myers has an impressive record of performing and teaching around the world. He’s presented critically acclaimed concerts and master classes in Europe, China, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Mexico, and the United States.

Myers is best known to Austin music lovers as professor of viola at the University of Texas' Butler School of Music, where he served for a decade as chair of the string department and received the School of Music Excellence in Teaching Award.

His latest recording project is devoted to baroque music for viola and features compositions for viola and harpsichord by various members of the Bach family. Also included on the new album is the world premiere recording of a sonata by Johann Joachim Quantz, a composer who worked at and around the court of Frederick the Great. Myers joined Chris Johnson this week on Rideshare to talk about the album.
