For 20 years, ART on 5th has been the proud host of one of the world's largest collections of "The Secret Art of Dr. Seuss". This extraordinary program continues to reveal fascinating and never-before-seen images from the entire breadth of Theodor Seuss Geisel's career. This year, our exhibition will focus on rare and long sold-out pieces, as well as highlight some of the most recent releases from the Dr. Seuss Archives. Visitors will also experience an exciting all new release, to be unveiled for the first time at the opening reception! As Austin’s largest contemporary gallery (over 7,000 square feet), we are proud of our eclectic collection of artists and our new museum-like setting. As the only commercial gallery ever voted “Best in Austin”, Austinites and visitors alike continue to applaud the colorful and diverse gathering of local, Texas, national and international artists. Gallery owner Joe Sigel opened the gallery in 1998, realizing the need for a contemporary gallery in Austin and he introduced a collection of works by Picasso, Andy Warhol and others. Since then the gallery has evolved along with Austin’s constantly changing tastes, and now carries one of the largest collections of the Secret Art of Dr. Seuss in the country.

The gallery also showcases original contemporary works that don’t fit any genre, from Byron May’s incredible 3 dimensional paintings on stainless steel to Paul Stankiewicz’s funky take on Austin’s iconic landmarks. With a rotating stable of over 40 artists, ART on 5th offers a wide variety of artistic styles to suit any taste.

Along with its ongoing exhibits of framed artwork, ART on 5th welcomes touring exhibitions from Washington, Chicago, and Montreal to name a few. In addition to an amazing selection of fine art, ART on 5th is also Austin’s premier custom framer. The gallery has carefully chosen a huge selection of frames from over ten different suppliers to ensure that they have the perfect design for your project. The gallery also expanded into artisan jewelry in October 2009, opening “The Art of Jewelry”. “The Art of Jewelry” offers one-of-kind creations from award-winning designers from around the country. The artisans have been chosen for their individuality and inventive use of materials. Materials range from found objects to steel, seeds to gems, semi-precious stones, gold and oxidized silver.
