Look to the right of the post title to find the orange audio play button to listen to an interview with KMFA's John Clare and composer Frank Ticheli and conductor Richard Floyd about the Austin Symphonic Band concert "Tributes".

Saturday evening the Austin Symphonic Band takes the stage at the new Austin ISD Performing Arts Center. The first half includes music by John Williams, John Curnow, and Mark Camphouse conducted by director Richard Floyd and assistant conductor Bill Haehnel.

On the second half, Frank Ticheli's music is featured including the world premiere of Dancing on Water. Commissioned by the Austin Symphonic Band in honor of Richard Floyd, Ticheli says it evokes sunrise, sailing, and the jovial spirit of Floyd. Ticheli will be present to discuss his new work and will also conduct on the concert.
