About
Austin historical resource the Neill-Cochran House Museum partners with Freedmen’s Bar to present the opening of a new exhibit on the 200 year history of the dynamic West Campus Neighborhood. West campus has a long history as part of the heart and soul of Austin, and this exhibit sheds light on aspects of the neighborhood’s past that we as a community have forgotten. We’re answering the question of where this neighborhood came from and how it got to be the way it is today.
Both the exhibit and the permanent collection will be open for viewing before and after a short presentation at 6:30, and museum staff will be available for informal tours and discussion.
Freedmen’s Bar will provide complementary cocktails based on traditional American whiskies and attendees will also receive a $10 discount for dinner at Freedmen’s following the event.
Tickets for West Campus: Evolution of an Austin Neighborhood are $10 for the general public, $5 for students with valid ID, and free for members of the Friends of the Neill-Cochran House Museum, and will be available at the door or online at nchmuseum.org. Free event parking is available in the back lot accessible from 23rd Street. The Friends organization is open to anyone interested in the preservation of this historic Austin house.
