“Love is the joy of the good, the wonder of the wise, the amazement of the Gods.” – Plato

Anne Akiko Meyers is one of the most celebrated violinists around the world, and is also a resident of Austin, TX! Her latest release, Serenade: The Love Album, now released on eOne Music, is her 31st album. It features Leonard Bernstein's Serenade, based on Plato's Symposium, as well as ten world premieres of re-worked music from the American Songbook and classic movies by seven arrangers. The album also serves as a 50th wedding present for her parents.

You might have received this album as a thank you gift from KMFA's fall membership campaign!

"My father loves classic movies, and also plays clarinet," says Meyers. "A big influence was Benny Goodman, and my dad played at a lot of jazz clubs as a teenager. This music, from the America songbook and the jazz clubs, that's what is in his blood. He still plays today." Anne also included a little love for her husband Jason on this album. "It was a holiday, and he had never seen Cinema Paradiso. It was my first movie gift to him...it still makes me tear up when I see the scene with all the kisses."

Meyers filmed a trailer for Serenade: The Love Album at the historic Paramount Theatre this last June that you can see below. (KMFA's Content Director might be seen in the ticket line!)
