About

Building on three successful seasons, Inversion Ensemble announces its fourth season: Aether.

Aether’s concerts explore the four alchemical elements of Earth, Air, Fire and Water and their meanings both ancient and new. Inversion Ensemble Coda, a volunteer choir of singers age 55 and older, opens the season with music centered on the element of Earth as our home and our responsibility to be stewards of that home through conservation.

Local composers Adrienne Inglis, Robbie LaBanca, and Majorie Halloran will add to Inversion Ensemble’s tally of over 50 world premières with brand new works written especially for Coda. For Earth—conservation/nature, Coda sings Austin’s present and future with amusing, provocative, poignant, and comforting earth music. The concert also features Chaski with flutist Adrienne Inglis and harpist Shana Norton.

Admission free, donations accepted. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Lone Star Sierra Club. Shrink your carbon footprint and take the bus or train.

  • Name: Inversion Ensemble Coda
  • Austin’s Inversion Ensemble is a choral collective made up of composers and singers formed to give voice to innovative choral works and to encourage the creation of new music. A great deal of our repertoire is written especially for Inversion Ensemble by composers who sing within the ranks of the ensemble. While many members of Inversion Ensemble perform, conduct, compose, study, and teach music full-time, the group also includes non-professional participants who are passionate about choral music and help to ensure it thrives as a modern art form.
