THE PANDEMIC IS A PORTAL

March 13 at 3:30 p.m. | Draylen Mason Music Studio

The devastating impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on working class people cannot be overstated. From financial fallout, to loneliness, to the world shutting down our plans, no one has not been affected somehow by this trauma. As we look forward longing for normality, Matthew Lyons’s new work The Portal wonders if “nothing could be worse than a return to normality.

Through works by local composers Matthew Lyons, James Tabata, and Nicholas Perry Clark; works by acclaimed composers Fanny Hensel and George Lewis; and words by Arundhati Roy, Matthew Lyons, and Gwendolyn Brooks, this concert bridges us into our return and reconciles with the past, present, and future of the pandemic.
