KMFA 89.5 presents a live broadcast of Austin Opera's performance of Verdi's A Masked Ball. Dianne Donovan and Chris Johnson will host from the Long Center, with commentary beginning at 2:45 p.m. This broadcast will only be available on 89.5 FM, and will not be available online or on the KMFA mobile app.

This classic Verdi drama, featuring illicit love, loyalty and betrayal, presents a king, Riccardo, who has fallen for the wife of his best friend and closest adviser. When a fortune teller foresees his murder, Riccardo laughs it off, just as he has other rumors of his assassination. But as the plot unfolds we realize it’s not another person’s quest for power but rather revenge that will lead to his demise.

This program is part of KMFA's Listen Local series of locally-produced radio broadcasts of Austin's finest classical music performances. This project is supported in part by the Cultural Arts Division of the City of Austin Economic Development Department, the Still Water Foundation, and Estes Audiology Hearing Centers.
