More Ways to Give
Gifts of Stock/Appreciated Property
Appreciated assets, such as stocks that have been held longer than one year and have appreciated in value, may be donated to KMFA Classical 89.5 and may provide you with tax savings. KMFA Classical 89.5, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, is licensed to Capitol Broadcasting Association, Inc., as a public service, community funded station.
When you give appreciated assets, you avoid paying capital-gains tax on the increased value of your stock. You may also be entitled to a charitable deduction based on the stock's current value. Contributing stock is a great way to enjoy membership in KMFA with associated benefits. A gift of $1,000 qualifies you for membership in KMFA's Masters Circle.
When considering gifts of stock, we recommend you consult with your financial advisor.
KMFA listeners may choose to include Capitol Broadcasting Association, Inc. in their charitable estate plans by making donations directly from an Individual Retirement Account under the Pension Protection Act of 2006 which was permanently extended through Tax Relief Act of 2015. This legislation allows individual donors age 70 ½ and older to make lifetime gifts using funds from qualifying IRAs without incurring tax effects traditionally associated with lifetime donations from such accounts.
Many companies in our area match their employees' contributions. KMFA Classical 89.5 is eligible for these matching gifts, as a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization!
Matching gifts are usually dollar-for-dollar, but some even double or triple the amount of your contribution. Corporate matching gifts are a great way to maximize the influence of gifts made to KMFA.
Here are just some of the Austin employers who offer matching programs:
- Applied Materials
- Charles Schwab
- Exxon Mobil
- General Electric
- Hewlett Packard
- Silicon Laboratories
- State Farm
To take advantage of your company’s matching gift program, please complete your company's matching gift form (usually available through your human resources or community relations department) and return it to us at:

Special Note for Sustaining Members:
Matching Gift forms for sustaining members need to be handled differently than a one-time contribution.
We ask that you submit two Matching Gift forms; one after six months of giving and a second after 12 months of giving.
This is because, due to the prorated amount of your gift, we cannot confirm the total amount of your donation until it is paid in full.
Calling All Volunteers!
If you have time to offer, particularly during the weekdays, KMFA can use your help.
Opportunities for volunteers include office tasks such as mailings and thank you calls to donors.
In-Kind Good Donations
Local restaurants can provide volunteers and staff breakfast, lunch, or snacks during our 7-day fund drives in the spring and fall. There are many benefits to your business in return for a food donation:
- On-air recognition for your business
- A sign at the food table with the name of your business
- A recognition/thank you for one full year on our website
If you are interested in supporting KMFA with an in-kind food donation, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
