Tune in to KMFA on Memorial Day
An abundance of Americana, patriotic tunes and Lady Libertytraditional favorites will greet your ears when you tune in on Memorial Day! Whatever your holiday plans entail, KMFA will form the perfect sonic backdrop for your activities. Copland, Bernstein and Sousa will make their appearances alongside lesser-known American composers like John Powell and Don Gillis. In addition, selections from films scores and favorite national hymns will help make your Memorial Day both festive and reflective.

spotlightsWeekend programming spotlight
Wind Sounds is featuring a Memorial Day show with patriotic wind music by American composers Sousa, Schuman and Ives. Tune in Saturday at 5pm.

Ancient Voices will spotlight Vespers for Whitsun by Christophorus Demantius, performed by the Huelgas Ensemble.

Sunday Night Symphony will play Cesar Franck’s Symphony in D

Butler School of Music will offer works by Beethoven, Stanton, and Shostakovich, performed by the University Symphony Orchestra led by Gerhardt Zimmerman, with Gillian Bloom as cello soloist.

In honor of ...
Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau
The French dubbed him "Le miracle Fischer-Dieskau." At his peak, he was greatly admired for his interpretive insights and exceptional control of his beautiful voice. He was the most recorded singer of all time. Dominating both the opera and concert platform for over thirty years. In honor of the life of singer/conductor Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, KMFA host Carmel O'Donovan will be playing his performance of Mahler's “Das Lied von der Erde" (with the Vienna Philharmonic, conducted by Leonard Bernstein). Tune in Sunday afternoon at 2pm for this amazing tribute.
