21-year-old Jan Lisiecki is a Canadian pianist of Polish descent who has been active professionally since he was just nine years old. He’s performed with the New York Philharmonic, the Paris Orchestra, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Rotterdam Philharmonic, and the Montreal Symphony just to name a few.

He’s been recording for the venerable German classical label Deutsche Grammophon since 2010. His fourth release for that label is just out and features a program of unusual and lesser-known pieces for piano and orchestra by Frederic Chopin. Lisiecki is currently playing concerts in and around Germany, but was recently in New York for a concert at Lincoln Center with the London Philharmonic led by Vladimir Jurowski. While he was there he stopped into the Carnegie Hall Studios to record this conversation with KMFA's Chris Johnson.
