About

On September 3, 7pm at the King-Seabrook Chapel of the Huston-Tillotson University, the Philippine Madrigal Singers will have its first ever concert in Austin, TX.

The Madz is known for their rousing and deeply emotional impact that their performance has on all audiences the world over as they sing in the distinctive set- up of sitting in a semi-circle without a conductor. They are a 26-person choral ensemble composed of students, faculty and alumni of the University of the Philippines.

The Madz perform a wide repertoire of various styles and forms with virtuosity: renaissance music, classical music, Filipino and international folksongs, contemporary and avant-garde music, opera and even popular music. They have established their reputation as a pioneering force in choral music and an inspirational role model for other choirs.

They are the Philippines' most active ambassadors of goodwill and have sung for many of the world’s most influential and prominent leaders in state visits and command performances. They recently won the Grand Prix in the 64th Concurso Internazionale di Guido d’ Arezzo last August 2016 in Arezzo, Italy. They hold the distinction of being the first choir in the world to win the prestigious European Grand Prix for Choral Singing twice (1997 and 2007).

Aside from being one of the most awarded choral groups in the world, they are also recognized by the UNESCO as Artists for Peace for “putting their fame and influence to promote cultural diversity, intercultural dialogue and a culture of peace.”

For the Madz “significant contribution to the world of choral music, producing new compositions and choral settings, spreading the beauty of this genre and giving a good musical experience to the audience, the group became the 1st choir to ever receive the BrandLaureate Premier Award in 2012.

At the group’s celebration of its 50th year in 2013, the Philippine Madrigal Singers have been invited to perform during the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) National Convention in Dallas, Texas and during the America Cantat in Bogota, Colombia.

Come and see these world-class choristers for the first time in Austin, TX!

  • The Filipino Christian Fellowship is honored to bring the world-acclaimed Philippine Madrigal Singers to Austin, TX for the first time. Their performance is set for September 3, 2017, Sunday 7pm at the Huston-Tillotson University. Our desire is to bring their beautiful music to Austinites, while at the same time fundraise for our Philippine missions fund.

The Filipino Christian Fellowship is a small church of less than 100 members. But the numbers are not to be looked down upon as these members have big hearts! Even with the small membership number, the church supports many missions including 2 Philippine mission ministries on a consistent basis for many years now. It is our desire to add 2 additional Philippine mission ministries (total of 4) this year. So, the proceeds of the concert with the Madz will go to the growth of the Philippine ministries.

Come and watch the world-renowned Philippine Madrigal Singers’ concert in Austin, TX, while at the same time, support the growth of the Philippine missions minister! You will enjoy them immensely!
