Immerse Yourself in Mozart’s Christmas Light Show
November 17–January 1 [except Thanksgiving and Christmas Day]

WHAT’S NEW IN 2017: Mozart’s free annual Christmas light extravaganza puts visitors “in” the show this year. More dazzling and delightful than ever with over one million LED lights, the free show is debuting a new immersive, interactive experience for visitors.

“It’s the Cirque de Soleil of Christmas lights,” said Mozart’s co-owner Ken Leonard. “Be sure to bring your camera for photos and videos that will light up your Instagram, Snapchat and Facebook pages.”

Thousands of lights have been sculpted into giant iconic objects, custom-made in Greece, that evoke Austin’s culture and the Christmas season, including a dozen 7-foot-tall guitars, the State Capitol, a larger than life-size ornamented carriage, and a tree filled with presents. Another new addition is an audio-activated wall of lights—speak, sing or clap for a glowing surprise. Thousands of other lights are imaginatively strung in the trees and along facades and rooflines, all placed around Mozart’s expansive deck overlooking Lake Austin.

“There’s no such thing as too many Christmas lights,” said Katrine Formby, also a Mozart’s co-owner. “We love making this a gift to Austin and giving it a new spin each year.”

THE SHOWS WITHIN THE SHOW: The exhilarating high points of the show, super light-ups and live choral singing, occur throughout the evening. Visitors can relax and arrive at any time to get their over-the-top dose of Christmas magic. Christmas songs performed by local choirs range from traditional to “rock-the-deck” tunes.

REFRESHMENTS: Mozart’s acclaimed coffee and hot chocolate can be purchased in the coffee shop and at kiosks outdoors, along with special holiday goodies from Mozart’s bakery. Coffee-related gift items and gift cards are also available.

One of Austin’s favorite caffeine scenes, locally owned Mozart’s Coffee Roasters serves coffee drinks made from internationally-sourced coffees roasted on site, hot chocolate and in-house baked goods. The shop, with its enormous tree-shaded deck, is located at the west end of Lake Austin Blvd.
