FOR KOREAN WAR REMEMBRANCE DAY

On Sunday, June 18, 2023, pianist Dr. Hyun-Woo Jade Jung will present a solo piano recital to commemorate the Korean War and to raise awareness of this important date in Korean history and the important support of the United States and allied countries in coming to the aid of South Korea. The concert will feature musical selections that focus on the themes of war from artists such as Chopin and Ravel.

Presenter Details

• Name: Nu Music

Originally from Seoul, South Korea, Hyun-Woo Jung received his Master’s and Doctorate degrees in Piano Performance from The University of Texas at Austin. At the young age of 14, Jung was selected as a candidate for the Gifted of Southern Seoul Program. During his childhood, he was fortunate enough to be named first prize winner of the Korea Music Association Competition as well as the International Cultural-Exchange Competition.

Noted for his exemplary performances throughout his undergraduate degree, he was chosen to participate in exclusive university programs permitted only to the top percentage of performance majors. Additionally, he was awarded the Dean’s Scholarship for four consecutive years. During his undergraduate degree, he was the first prize winner of the Win Art Hall Music Competition as well as the first prize winner of the Hyperion Chamber Music Competition.

Among his many accomplishments, Dr. Jung was given honorable mention of the Sid-Wright Accompanying Competition in 2019 and 2022, and also has won first prize in the 2022 New York International Music Competition, American Protégé Competition, and 2nd place of Birmingham International Music Competition. Dr. Jung maintains an active performance profile across the United States and Asia, exploring a wide variety of repertoire with an equally wide range of string, wind, and two-piano ensembles.
