Richard Wagner’s powerful romantic opera, The Flying Dutchman, tells the tale of a captain cursed to navigate a ghost ship for all eternity. Only once every seven years can the Dutchman go ashore for a fleeting moment to find the true love that can release him from his never-ending prison at sea. The beautiful Senta may be the key to the Dutchman’s salvation, but only if she’s willing to abandon everyone she cares about. The cast includes returning favorites Wayne Figges as the Dutchman and Peter Volpe as Daland along with rising stars new to the Austin stage, Melody Moore as Senta and Clay Hilley as Erik.

Dianne Donovan and Jeffrey Blair host this live broadcast from Austin Opera performance at the Long Center for the Performing Arts providing key insights into the production and all of the intricacies of the plot. Tune in at 2:50pm in order to catch all of the excitement before the curtain goes up.
