Sita Sings the Blues (2008) is the vision of director Nina Paley presenting an animated version of the epic Indian tale of Ramayana interspersed with scene from her own life, set to the 1920s jazz vocals of Annette Hanshaw.

Chale Nafus, founding board member of the Austin Film Society, will provide introductory remarks. This film is part of the City of Austin Museums and Cultural Programs' new Planet Cinema series, curated by Chale Nafus.

Arrive early 7:30 - 8:15 p.m. for a free Indian Bharat Nayam dance workshop led by dancers from Austin Dance India. Bring your own blankets and lawn chairs; outside food and drinks welcome.
