Claire Vangelisti & June Julian, sopranos; Katherine Altobello, alto; Jeffrey Jones–Ragona, tenor; Richard Seiler and Martha Mortensen Ahern, pianists; and stage direction by Dr. Joshua Miller.
This innovative program weaves the lives of three women… An attentive, meddling and haughty waiter delivers candid commentary on the “ladies who lunch” – a seasoned socialite, a business woman, and a young bride. The ladies, and the waiter, articulate everything about their lifestyles and personas through a wide range of musical repertoire including operatic arias, art songs and musical theatre. While their individuality shines through, their lives become gradually intertwined into a cacophony of sound reflecting the frivolities of life, joy, hope, promise, disappointment, regrets, insanity, mortality, and ultimately, peace.

- Name: Austin Chamber Ensemble
The Austin Chamber Ensemble was formed in 1981 as a wind quintet. It began with a series of six concerts in 1985 as a tribute to the Texas Sesquicentennial with the "Six Flags Over Texas" concerts featuring composers from France, Spain, Texas, Mexico, the Confederacy, and the US. These were performed in the Elizabeth Ney Museum and included Austin Chamber Ensemble members and guest artists.
Although the Austin Chamber Ensemble initially had a wind quintet as its core ensemble, it has gradually branched out to include all instrumental and vocal combinations in its concerts. In addition to the Austin series, the ensemble has given concerts, master classes and school concerts in many Texas cities as part of the Texas Commission on the Arts touring program. In December of 1993 the ACE Wind Quintet was honored to be selected out of 300 groups to perform for the New Year's Fest in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and in June of 1994 for the Birmingham, Alabama City Stages Festival. In addition, ACE has been featured on Austin radio stations KUT FM and KMFA FM presenting interviews and live performances.
Incorporated as a non-profit organization in 1985, the Austin Chamber Ensemble has always had as major goals creative programming, performing new works, artist exchanges and educational presentations. As we celebrated our 35th season (2016-17), we commissioned a new work by Grammy ballot composer Robert Paterson and lyricist David Cote - "In Real Life". The song cycle received a premiere performance by Mela Sarajane Dailey, soprano and Martha Mortensen Ahern, piano in Austin, TX - February 2016.
We celebrate our 36th Season!
