Don Quixote de La Redo:

The ingenioso hidalgo Don Quixote unleashes his  superhero locura upon the borderlands in this original stage production mixing puppets and human actors at the MACC.

Who: Glass Half Full Theatre (Puppetry and Physical Theater of Objects & Ideas), co-presented with Teatro Vivo, and The Jim Henson Foundation at the Mexican American Cultural Center.

What: Don Quixote de La Redo is set in an imagined future near the border between Texas and México, in a place that used to be called “Laredo.” A pair of technicians encounter the lost stories of Don Quixote and strive to “re-do” them with regrettable and hilarious consequences. This production spotlights the hallmarks of Glass Half Full Theatre’s award-winning approach to performance: wry humor and inventive use of puppeteer as character, with precise physical language and stunning visuals featuring puppets and human actors.  The performers use a combination of Spanish, English, and Spanglish, which is understood by both Spanish and English speakers.

Glass Half Full Theatre creates original work featuring puppets and human actors, often around themes of environmental protection and the consequences of human error, but with an imaginative and comedic bent. Glass Half Full Theatre has received multiple grants from the Jim Henson Foundation and the City of Austin to create new work, and received dozens of Austin theater award nominations.

Glass Half Full Theatre is a sponsored Project of the Austin Creative Alliance. This project is a co-production with Teatro Vivo and supported in part by the Cultural Arts Division of the City of Austin Economic Development Department and by the Jim Henson Foundation.
