About

The Texas State University Stars At Night Concert Series concludes on Friday, April 13 at 7:30 pm with the final concert of the 2017-2018 season, featuring the Attacca Quartet in the Performing Arts Center Recital Hall, 405 Moon Street.

Praised by The Strad for “maturity beyond its members’ years”, the New York-based and internationally-acclaimed Attacca Quartet returns to Texas State for a concert of classical and contemporary works for string quartet. In the 2014-2015 season, they were the Quartet-in-Residence at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and this concert will mark the end of their second year as Ensemble-in-Residence at Texas State University’s School of Music.

Their latest album release, Songlines, features the string quartet works of School of Music faculty member Dr. Michael Ippolito. The album’s titular piece will be included on the April 13th program in addition to works by Haydn and Brahms, the latter of which will feature faculty clarinetist Vanguel Tangrov. Prior to their performance on April 13, the quartet will perform in collaboration with Texas State string faculty on April 11 at 7:30 pm in the Performing Arts Center Recital Hall.
