About
TURN UP is a woman-centered, Artist-led, culture-connecting, multimedia Music & Arts festival turning up the volume for woman artists in traditional and electronic/digital media.
The concert is April 14 at 7:30 PM in Homer Rainey Hall (Jessen Auditorium) on the UT campus here in Austin. FREE admission! Come out. Have fun. Support our amazing female artists! We hope to see you there.
The statistics are out there. Women artists in composition and media design are not just a minority, but a tiny percentage of those who work or wish to work in these professions. We need to raise the profile of female artists in these fields. Without that, the next generation of women artists will end up in the same position as their predecessors, largely forgotten.
One of the goals of TURN UP multimedia festival is to bring the historical women composers out of the archives. We also want to bring living female composers out of the shadows. Bring their music live on the stage. And, bring the music to the ears of the audience. These women have been underappreciated. Just listen to any classical music station. It’s always the famous men. Where are the women? We want to bring the women out and show them off!
We will TURN UP the visibility of Women Artists. The concerts will be free. Come hear and see what women can do when given a stage. It’ll be great.
