About

Texas State University Opera Theatre presents The Magic Flute – Episode I, a reimagining of Mozart’s opera classic in collaboration with Texas State Orchestras March 28-31 in the Performing Arts Center’s Patti Strickel Harrison Theatre, 405 Moon St.

This unique take on the famous opera is set in a galaxy far, far away in which the protagonist, Tamino, crashes into a strange planet after being attacked by a giant space serpent only to be saved by three ladies in black and drawn into a galactic conflict. The production will make use of new dialogue in English and singing in German with English supertitles written by Caitlin Turnage, an award winning masters student playwright.

Performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. March 28-30, with a 2:00 p.m. matinee on Sunday, March 31st.
