Legendary French double bass virtuoso Francois Rabbath will be performing a solo recital accompanied by his son Sylvan Rabbath. Part of the Austin Double Bass Workshop, this concert will be the highlight of Francois' last American tour. A self taught prodigy, Francois combines jazz improvisation, classical violin performance techniques and his own unique compositions that are truly amazing.

• Name: Francois Rabbath

Francois Rabbath was born March 12, 1931 in Aleppo, Syria. Studied at the Paris Conservatory for a short time before developing his own school of bass playing, The Rabbath International Bass Institute in Paris. Performed with the Paris Opera and did his own solo jazz improvisation on the side. Rabbath has elevated the double bass performance technique to equal if not exceed all other string instruments. At age 84, he still rivals all other bass players and is respected as a true master of the instrument.
