About

This epic Western stars Joseph Cotton, Jennifer Jones, Lionel Barrymore, Lillian Gish, and Gregory Peck. Leonard Maltin called it “producer-writer David O. Selznick's ambitious attempt to duplicate the success of Gone with the Wind: big, brawling, engrossing, often stupid sex-Western, with some memorable scenes and an unexpectedly bizarre finale.” With a Texas tycoon, good guys, scoundrels, ranch hands, and all of the Western-movie clichés, it’s a treat to see on our big screen. Selznick’s archive resides at the Ransom Center.

This film runs 129 minutes in the Ransom Center’s Prothro Theater. The program is free and open to the public, but donations are welcome. Seating is first-come, first-served, and doors open at 2:30 p.m.
