The San Marcos Artists Retention and Training (S.M.A.R.T.) Orchestra is holding open auditions for their upcoming season titled, "Sounds of the Silver Screen." SMART’s 8th season will feature music from movies such as Superman, Harry Potter, Star Wars, and more! The orchestra seeks strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion players to join their ranks for this exciting year!

Auditions will be held Saturday, August 27th from 9:00am to noon and Sunday, August 28th from 3:00-5:00pm in the Orchestra Room at San Marcos High School (2601 E McCarty Ln, San Marcos).

String players are invited to audition between 9:00am and 10:30am on Saturday, August 27th, with wind and percussion players invited from 10:30am to noon.

Sunday’s audition is open to all players from 3:00-5:00pm.

The audition is brief and gives players an opportunity to play a prepared piece as well as sight-read. All players will be notified of their audition result by Sunday evening, August 28th. Musicians can pre-register for an audition slot at http://smartorchestra.org/join/.

The SMART Orchestra is a non-profit organization based in San Marcos, Texas that provides professional, novice, & retired musicians of all ages the opportunity to perform in a full symphony orchestra. During each season we offer a full concert season featuring free concerts and other educational opportunities because we believe classical music should be accessible to all in the Central Texas area.
